A really memorable Christmas enhances people’s Christmas experience and makes a shopping center or residential property more valuable. If you have thought about what makes a Christmas display memorable, please share with us at the bottom of this article. Together we can make Christmas in Savannah even more beautiful.
Here are three things that I think make a Christmas Display Memorable with pictures to illustrate them.
Personalization:
If you want people to remember your Christmas display, add a bit of yourself to it. When you make what you love a part of your decor, it will naturally resonate with other people who love what you love. If you want your store to resonante with the people who love what you love, be free in celebrating the things that you love. This UGA tree is a memorable and worth sharing. This image is from someone’s home. In a shopping center, decor like this is likely to get lots of “selfies” and shares on social media, and draw more attention to your store.
Of course, being personal in your decor can alienate people who do not share your views. So, be mindful of the side-effects of being “too” personal in your decor.
Emotion
If you can make someone feel something through your decor, you have really been successful. The Santa displays at so many shopping malls are a great example of an emotionally memorable Christmas display. There are lots of reasons to include a real Santa Claus actor in your decor. One is certainly to create the feeling of love and care that Santa evokes in so many parents and children.
Flash!
A well light display can become so memorable as to become a destination for shoppers. There has been an incredible growth in the types of lights available today. New lights called “RGB” can be coordinated to music or other choreographed routines. Here are some YouTube videos of residences who have done some really creative flashy light displays. These are probably a bit much for most commerical spaces, but I think it’s really inspiring to see how many things you can do with RGB lights:
The Philadelphia Marshall Fields / Macy’s light display has become a destination for area shoppers.

Finally, a note about taste. Many times the most beautiful and memorable decor is elegant without being flashy at all. It illuminates without overpowering the beautiful scene it enriches. The ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center is a great example of lighting which is beautiful without being flashy.
Conclusion
Christmas decor can add so much to the spaces you manage. It is a great opportunity improve the experience for everyone who visits your space and to become a destination for holiday shoppers.
